Vitamin C Reduces Cataract Progression Risk by 33%

December 10, 2018 - Cataracts

Hey folks, it’s Dr. Sam and I want to talk to you today about vitamin C and cataracts.

By the age of 65, about 90 percent of people are going to be diagnosed with cataracts.

Now there was a research study that was published in The Journal of Ophthalmology in 2016. This was a study that took place in the UK. Researchers took a look at 324 pairs of eyes over a ten year period and found that those who supplemented with vitamin C in their foods or through vitamins had a 33% reduced risk of developing progressive cataracts.

My recommendation is to be sure you’re getting enough vitamin C, it’s a powerful antioxidant that plays an important role in keeping the lens of the eye healthy.
