The Best Foods for Eye Health

January 17, 2019 - Nutrition

Hey folks, it’s Dr. Sam and I received a question today. What are the best foods to eat to improve my eye health?

I’m going to start on the general level by saying if you eat a diet that’s anti-inflammatory, this means a plant-based rainbow diet that is rich in vegetables and fruits that contain antioxidants. I also recommend reducing carbohydrate consumption and opting for healthful fats and oils. This is a good start.

Some specific foods I really want to highlight include avocados, asparagus, green leafy vegetables, cruceriferous vegetables, the berry family – raspberries, blueberries, goji berries, and nuts and seats.

If you consume animal products, opt for wild-caught salmon, organic chicken, grass-fed beef, and pasture-raised eggs.

I also recommend a daily probiotic supplement.

And of course, reduce your stress levels and get regular exercise, this feeds the body too!

If you do those things consistently, you will greatly improve the health of your eyes and vision to keep them for a lifetime.

Thanks for tuning in. Until next time.
