I’d like to say something about ketosis and eyesight, Dr. Sam Berne. And I’m a holistic guy, doctor. And one of the things that I’ve noticed with ketosis is that it actually protects the retina cells against diseases like glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. And particularly in glaucoma, that is a very serious vascular disease that attacks the optic nerve. And it can cause blindness, that what I’ve observed with my patients, and actually, this was validated by a study done in the Journal of Neuroscience, which said that when people go into the state of ketosis, there’s a lower risk of developing glaucoma. And also, I’ve seen this in certain retinopathy, these, especially diabetic retinopathy. But I want to say one more thing about ketosis and eyesight is that some of my patients that go into ketosis will call me and they have blurred vision. And this blurred vision will fluctuate for a while, and then all of a sudden, they will get much clearer eyesight, and their glasses don’t work as well. And when I do a re exam on them, I find their eyes have improved. But that initial blurred vision sometimes throws people because they don’t understand the relationship and what is happening. And I love what you’re saying about metabolic flexibility, neurological flexibility, and I’m going to bring in visual flexibility in this conversation. I’m Dr. Sam, and I’m out. here I’d like to say something about the glycemic index because I’ve also tracked with my patients, the number one disease for blindness, macular degeneration. And there was a study that was conducted at Tufts University, which made a correlation between people who eat you know, these foods like bread and pasta and rice, and how it affects their macular health, especially the wet macular degeneration, that’s where you need to get the injections. And I call this a very serious mitochondria disease. And I’m always talking to my patients about, you know, eliminating carbohydrates, looking at their glycemic index foods. And again, in terms of the eyes, the macula has one of the highest metabolic needs of the body, and what you’re saying about stress and inflammation, the blue light from screentime, you know, we’re on screentime, all day. All of these things together are a disaster for people’s vision and they lose their ability to see things clearly. So I’m glad that you’re bringing that up about the glycemic index. We need to really educate people on what they’re eating and move them away from all these carbohydrates. Thank you. I’m Dr. Sam, and I’m out.
