Hey folks, it’s Dr. Sam. Did you know that about 75 percent of all Americans are deficient in magnesium? Well how does this affect our eyes?
Well there was a study that was published in 2010 in the European Journal of Ophthalmology. Researchers took 30 subjects, 15 of whom received 300 milligrams of oral magnesium for one month, while the other 15 subjects didn’t receive the treatment. And those that received the magnesium scored much higher in terms of their visual fields and the retinal circulation.
So some great foods that contain magnesium would be things like almonds, cashews, avocados, wild caught salmon, pumpkin seeds, coconut yogurt, and spinach. So remember your magnesium as part of your overall eye health and wellness.
