Are legumes good for eye health?

November 29, 2017 - Nutrition

“Howdy folks, it’s Dr. Sam. I’m here to report that legumes are an excellent source to support eye health.

In a recent research study in clinical diabetes, researchers found that legumes help reduce vascular disease throughout the entire body. This includes heart disease, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.

My interest is in the retina of the eye, because this is where I see conditions like diabetic retinopathy and hypertensive retinopathy, which can lead to vision loss and blindless. Legumes are a great source of protein, fiber, trace minerals – especially magnesium, and B vitamins.”
