Glaucoma and Rebounders

May 22, 2020 - Eye Health

Hey, hey, folks, it’s Dr. Sam and I’m on my morning walk today. I received a question about using the rebounder. Will that help eye health?

Well, I want to point you to a study -this was Dr. Harry Quigley, who works at Johns Hopkins University, Wilmer Eye Institute – and he says that aerobic exercise may help reduce eye pressure and improve blood flow into the retina and the optic nerve.

Well, I was really glad to see this report because I have seen, in my practice when people do rebounding work, that their eye pressure does come down. And so some of the benefits of using the rebounder: number one, it actually helps improve our lymphatic health. And the lymph and the eyes are very, very connected. You know, we’re about 70 percent fluid. And as we age, that fluid begins to dry out for a variety of reasons stress, inflammation, repetitive movements, fear, anxiety. These are things that start to dry us out.

So using the rebounder, it improves our lymphatic health, our respiratory health, our cardiovascular system. It may improve our joint health. It may also help give us stronger bones and it can improve our eyes. So 5 to 10 minutes of doing the rebounder every day is definitely something that I would consider in your overall eye protocol. So that’s my message for today. Thank you so much for tuning in. Take care.
