Hey folks, it’s Dr. Sam. I’m on my morning walk today, and I received a question from a night shift worker who wants to know whether blue blockers could help her sleep?
Well, in 2009 there was a study published in The Journal of Chronobiology. Researchers took a group of subjects who worked at night, and they gave them blue blocker glasses to wear during the day. So 50% of the time they didn’t wear it during the study, and 50% of the time they did wear it. The results clearly showed that when they wore the blue blocker glasses, their sleep was better.
So my takeaway is that if you are a night shift worker and you suffer problems with sleep, using blue blocker glasses during the day could be very beneficial in terms of improving your overall sleep.
