Hey folks, it’s Dr. Sam and I’m on my morning walk on a gorgeous day.
I wanted to share the latest research that’s just come out in the Journal of Alzheimer’s linking certain eye diseases with the development of Alzheimer’s – it’s a very interesting study.
It was very extensive and researchers found that eye diseases like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy may be associated with increased risk of Alzheimer’s Disease. They also found that there may be a pathological common pathway between the development of these eye diseases with Alzheimer’s and they recommend vision screenings so that if people are diagnosed with these conditions they may be able to learn more about Alzheimer’s disease.
I speak often about how our bodies are one integrated system. Chronic eye disease is a sign that there is a systemic problem in the body, even if symptoms only present themselves in the eyes for the time being. So taking steps to improve your eye health will without a doubt influence the health of your brain and body.
