Hey everybody it’s Dr. Sam and I want to talk to you for a minute about the eye-brain connection.
So about nine weeks into fetal development, we can actually see the eyes growing out from the developing brain. So whenever we work with the eyes, we’re working with an extension of the brain. This is exciting because the eyes have the capability of something that the brain has, which is called neurogenesis. This means that the eyes have the capability of either regenerating damaged tissue or creating new neural pathways.
Now, we commonly blame faulty vision on a deteriorating eyeball. Folks, I’m here to tell you it’s not the eyeball’s fault – it’s about what our brain tells our eyes to do. So, things that can affect our vision include our psychological processes, posture, movement, biochemistry, and metabolic health. In conclusion, I want to iterate that most of your seeing occurs behind the eyeball in the brain. To heal eye conditions and improve vision, it is important to understanding the eye-brain connection the drives much of the central nervous system.
