Can Eating Healthy Fats Reduce Alzheimer’s?

May 3, 2019 - Eye Health

Hey folks, it’s Dr. Sam. I want to pose a question to you today. Do you think eating healthy fats can reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease?

In a research study published in Clinical Neurology News, researchers showed that a three-month diet comprised of 70% fat, improved the cognition in all Alzheimer’s patients.

What we’re referring to here is the ketogenic diet, which is comprised of eating 70% fat, 20% protein, and 10% carbs. And being able to achieve ketosis in your body by balancing out plant-based foods that you’re eating with proteins.

The new science is emerging that modifying your diet and increasing your fats could, in fact, reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

That’s my message for today. Thank you so much for tuning in. Take care.
