Blue Light Linked to Cancer

July 13, 2018 - Eye Health

Hey folks, it’s Dr. Sam and I’m on my morning walk. I found some really interesting research I wanted to share with you that links blue light to higher risks of developing prostate cancer or breast cancer.

This is a five-year study took place in Barcelona over 8,300 subjects participated in the study and researchers concluded that people that are exposed to blue light especially at night have a higher risk of developing prostate cancer and or breast cancer.

Now I’ve been talking a long time about the effects of blue light on our eyes. So any digital devices can emit this blue light which is part of the visible spectrum and it can affect things like our retina, the lens of our eye, or our cornea. And that’s why I recommend things like blue blocking lenses. Make sure you’re getting enough antioxidants in your diet. And of course probiotics and healthful fats and oils.

It is really important to get those nutrients to protect your eyes, improve your immune system, and lower the risk of these negative health effects that blue light may have on our systemic and metabolic health.

So that’s my message for today. Thank you so much for tuning in. And until next time take good care.
