B12 Lowers Risk of Macular Degeneration

November 8, 2018 - Macular Degeneration

Hey everybody, it’s Dr. Sam and I want to talk to you today about macular degeneration.

In a new study, researchers linked low levels of vitamin B 12 with a higher risk of developing macular degeneration.

Researchers took a group of women and gave them 1000 micrograms per day of vitamin B 12.  Over the length of the study, they found that these women had a 34 percent lower risk of developing macular degeneration.

So I would consider adding vitamin b 12 to your dietary protocol to improve macula health. I think it’s a great strategy in addition to carotenoids like lutein and zeaxanthin.
