Astaxanthin

October 25, 2019 - Macular Degeneration

Hey, good morning, everybody, it’s Dr. Sam, and I want to talk to you today about Astaxanthin. Well, this is a superfood. It’s a carotenoid, but we actually don’t produce it. It’s a marine carotenoid, which means that we can get it in sources of foods like shrimp, trout or salmon. Now, one of the benefits of astaxanthin is it actually shields the eye against the damaging blue light and ultraviolet light. It also helps get rid of free radicals.

So if you’re a senior or you use your eyes intensively, like on digital devices, I would actually recommend supplementing with astaxanthin. Now you want to look for a naturally made astaxanthin, and it also has to have phospholipids in it because this will help in the absorption of astaxanthin into your eyes and body. I would recommend between 12 and 15 milligrams a day. And if you do so, it’s an awesome way to keep improving your vision.

So that’s my message for today. Thank you so much for tuning in. Take care.
