“When I was 8 years old and I was diagnosed with a learning disability. I had difficulty reading and focusing – it was very frustrating for me. I was even labeled lazy. I ended up in an eye doctor’s office and I got a pair of near-sighted glasses, but they did not address my learning disability. My eyes just kept getting progressively worse. I got through school by memorizing.
When I graduated optometry school, I met a holistic eye doctor and went through his program called vision therapy, which is a form of physical therapy that helps the eyes, brain, and body work together. In that process, I dissolved my nearsightedness entirely and I healed my learning disability. At the source of it, my two eyes never worked together – I had trouble focusing my eyes. His vision therapy program helped me improve that skillset and my learning and processing of information skyrocketed.
While I was in optometry school I was taught a few things.
– The eyes only deteriorate with age
– The eyes are not connected to the whole body
– Pharmaceuticals and surgeries are the only ways to treat eye problems.
These are all wrong. While attending the Gesell Institute, a postdoctoral program affiliated with Yale, I learned how to evaluate and treat children and adults with learning problems. This required a whole health approach to helping people improve their eyes, brain, and body.
When I got into practice, I began studying many different modalities like acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, naturopathy, because I was really focused on helping people reverse different eye problems. I didn’t want to just treat symptoms, I wanted to treat the causative factors to better help people reverse different eye problems.
So I was able to trace that any eye problem has its roots systemically, metabolically, structurally, and also nutritionally. For example, cataracts is a metabolism problem in the lens of the eye, macular degeneration is a problem with oxidative stress and lack of oxygenation and hydration in the retina, and glaucoma is a circulation problem in the eye. Over the years I’ve had astounding successes with people reversing different eye health problems, as well as learning disabilities, using my approach.
If there is one thing I hope to share, it is that you do not have to live out your diagnosis. Your body is an incredible natural healer. This is well researched – everything from the natural repair of the epidermis (skin) to the growth of new brain cells (neurogenesis). The body has a remarkable ability to heal itself, but it requires the right environment and conditions to fuel the healing process.”
