Vertigo describes the sensation of motion sickness, which can make a person feel like they are either spinning or moving while they are standing still. This can create a lot of disorientation, nausea, and in severe cases, it can result in vomiting. One major disease that is associated with vertigo is called Meniere’s Disease, which is an imbalance in the inner ear. People suffering from Meniere’s Disease can also have tinnitus, a ringing in the ears, and inconsistencies in their hearing.

Some causes of vertigo include:

  • Inflammation or swelling in the nerve of the ear
  • Certain medications – things like antibiotics, pain relievers, seizure medications, and antidepressants can all contribute to feelings of vertigo. So if you are suffering, I would recommend going back to your doctor to talk to them about the medications and dosages you are taking and possible side effects.
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Seizures
  • Traumas – head trauma or concussions can lead to vertigo, migraine headaches, and vision problems.
