People often ask how my EYE program connects to the interactions with dolphins. First, we need to know that the eyes connect directly to the pineal gland. The pineal is a liquid crystal that connects us to the great world of nature. The more we recognize this link, the more adept we become at achieving wellness. My dolphin research validates many of the qualities that humans aspire to embody: sensuality, pleasure (which produces the hormone oxytocin), play, humor, wellness, and unconditional love.
As the wild dolphins stimulate our pineal, we begin resonating at a higher frequency. Once we enter this vibrational state, we begin to see in 5-D vision. Current 2-D vision keeps us in the fear paradigm. But 5-D vision encourages our masculine and feminine energies to join and become a unified consciousness. Our fear dissolves and we enter a state of love.

I am in the process of developing a new retreat format in Hawaii for 2014, which includes dolphin interactions as part of my EYE-Wellness program. Watch for details in the coming months.

More people are suffering dry eye syndrome, today. Some common symptoms include pain, sandy or grittiness, burning, light sensitivity, and excessive watery eyes. I have seen patients who have had such chronic red eyes along with swollen lids for many years without any relief!

Some causes of the dry eye syndrome include: endocrine imbalances, autoimmune disease, poor dietary absorption, post-surgical side effects due to cataract or lasik surgery, poor functional control on how we use our eyes together— which can be exacerbated by doing repetitive movements like spending hours everyday on the computer, wearing a prescription that is unbalanced or too strong, and dehydration both locally in the eyes and systemically in the body, even though we may drink a lot of water.

Some recommendations include:

Oxygen-Rich, Homeopathic Eye Drops (order through Dr. Berne)

Cutting-Edge Dry Eye Ointment (order through Dr. Berne)

Increasing the use of Omega 3 Fatty Acids, Vitamins B6, C, and Trace Minerals Potassium and Zinc

Applying 1 drop of Medicinal Essential Oils like Clary Sage, Saffron, and Frankincense two inches above and below the eyes (2 x/ day) to improve overall cellular oxygenation in and around the eye tissues I also recommend spraying Helichrysum Hydrosol into the eyes 3 times/ day. (order through Dr. Berne)

Drinking Structured Water to improve overall cellular health. Two reliable sources are: www.veritycorp.com or www.aquanew.com. I also recommend the book Dancing With Water by M.J. Pangman

Performing a biomedical lab test can be instrumental to identify what systemic imbalances are causing the eye problem.

On the Saturday night before the official retreat festivities began, we were confronted with a tsunami warning for all the islands of Hawaii. This warning was due to a 7.7 earthquake 125 miles off the coast of British Columbia. Sirens were blaring as we were told to leave the low-lying area where we were eating dinner with friends. Fortunately, our retreat center near Hawi (on the north part of the Big Island) is on high ground, so we were safe from any possible large waves that threatened the coastline. It was all for naught as the earthquake did not affect the waters around Hawaii at all. The next morning, relieved and refreshed, we were ready to receive our snorkel session at Jack’s Diving Locker.

Safety Lecture

What a wonderfully sweet group of people gathered for this year’s dolphin swim and vision retreat! Here’s a day-by-day summary.

Day 1, Monday: At our morning opening circle, I talked about the powerful elements that Hawaii provides for us to use as a catalyst to release any self-limiting beliefs we may have accumulated in our lifetime. I shared the importance of acknowledging all of the traditional gods and goddesses, and the medicine they offer us, as we are guests in Hawaii. I spoke about the Fire Goddess, Pele, and her influence as the fierce “Destroyer,” as well as the Mother Goddess. Pele contains within her both the destructive and creative powers of life. These powers are still very evident in Hawaii where her home volcano of Kilauea has been erupting periodically since 1983. She is a tangible, physical presence not only in the volcano area of the island but throughout the entire Hawaiian island chain.

We said a Hawaiian prayer to invoke her protection, energy, strength, and the ability to let go of our past history. After sending her prayers, we anointed each other with Ocean Pine, a wonderful essence that helped ground our roots into Mother Ocean. With these roots, we headed out to meet our dolphin friends. We had many swims with them during the day, as people acclimated to their energy and swimming in the Pacific Ocean. They were so playful with their spinning and moving around us. As we headed back to the Marina, people were pretty wiped out.

In the late afternoon, we returned to our retreat center, and I led a session on vision therapy. Then we had a delicious dinner and went to bed early to get ready for the next day.

Day 2, Tuesday: During our opening circle, we anointed one other with high-frequency Rose essence, which helped expand our “love vibration.” We also sent many prayers to all our brothers and sisters in the Northeast U.S., who were dealing with effects of Hurricane Sandy. After expressing our gratitude to the spirit of water, we started our second day with great excitement! My colleagues Mary, Natalina, and Natalina’s husband Yon joined us on the boat today, as they were collecting data on how the dolphins affect the energy field around the boat. This is part of an on-going project that I have been doing the past three years in Hawaii. Mary is organizing an international conference next September in Hawaii, and we will be presenting our results to a group of scientists.

As we headed out of the marina, we had some great interactive swims with the dolphins, but our last swim of the day occurred in a deserted bay where we were met by forty dolphins who played and swam with us for a very long time. The dolphins created such a playful wave and spiral motion around us that we all felt incredible love for them. One of our guides, Celeste, dropped some leaves she had brought into the water. As a leaf began to sink, a dolphin would swim below and catch it with a fin or tail and bring it to the surface. We also played with the bubbles the dolphins produced in the water while swimming with us. These bubbles were different sizes and some of them actually looked like crystals as they floated to the surface. Jan, our other guide, said that the bubbles carried important information that the dolphins wanted to convey to us. As the bubbles swirled to the surface, we absorbed them into our bodies. I received some information about how the dolphins use their energy to create scalar waves—hmmm, I need to really think about that for a while.

One of their major teachings today is that they told us to play more!! Some of the dolphins moved in a tetrahedron spiral shape, while others made love with each other while swimming around us. We had several encounters where they passed very close to a face so that eye contact was established. We called this “face time” with the dolphins. They just kept coming and coming until finally it was time to return to the boat. They really did not want us to leave! We all felt like our brain cells got re-arranged, and everyone was very happy.

After returning to the retreat center for a long rest, I offered a late afternoon session in vision therapy. In the evening I led people in a restorative Continuum dive, which put people in wonderful state for sleep. (Continuum is a process that uses various sequences of movement, sound and breath to create increased aliveness in our being.)

Day 3, Wednesday: We had a day off from our dolphin friends so we could have some integration time. My wife Charly and I had been invited by our island friends Barrie, Suzanne and Bob to meet a special man named Richard Spiegel and his lovely wife Candice. Their business in nearby Honokaa is called Volcano Island Honey Company. On the drive over, we felt transported to the British Isles as we drove on a rural two-lane road surrounded by green, rolling hills. As we entered Richard’s property, we could tell immediately that he is an amazing man. He has strived to create a sustainable business model with his employees as well as with the bees and their honey. I highly recommend his honey as I found it to be very medicinal and lovely. His website is www.volcanoislandhoney.com

Polulu Lookout

After lunch, we traveled back to the retreat center to meet our group. I took them to Pololu Valley Lookout in Kapaau. We hiked down to a beautiful black beach and encountered a secluded taste of the natural world.

After this satisfying hike, we enjoyed dinner out in Hawaii at a place called Sushi Rock. It was delicious!

Day 4, Thursday: During our circle this morning we anointed each other with the wonderful essence Angelica Root. This essence helps connect us with our “roots and wings.” We had another great day with the dolphins, playing the leaf game again and experiencing more face time with our friends. Celeste taught us a chant to call the dolphins and whales. We begin chanting “Oma Ka Om” over and over again in the water as the dolphins swam in a more restful, sleepy state. We also met up with a pod of dolphins that were playing and swimming with their children. We all felt like we were in a meditation with them. One other highlight of the day was swimming at the Golden Arch, which is a beautiful reef to snorkel. It was simply gorgeous, filled with very colorful fish.

We returned to the retreat center for afternoon and evening sessions of vision therapy and Continuum. I almost forgot to mention that this was my birthday. I had a great celebration and cake with all my friends!

Day 5, Friday: This morning as we held hands in a circle, we expressed how wonderful we felt with one another. We anointed each other with an essence called Listea Cubeba which was very uplifting. As we headed out of the marina, Celeste told us about some whale interactions she has had while swimming with them in Tonga. We were discussing our hopes to see a whale when, all of a sudden, a bottle-nose dolphin showed up right in front of the bow of the boat. He swam with the boat as we headed north, swimming very fast to keep up with our speed. He was very playful. He would swim on his back to show us his underside, then turn back over to breath every now and then. We called him the Kahuna as he gave us quite a show. He stayed with us for about 10 minutes and then headed off to have his own adventure.

Just then we encountered a pod of spinner dolphins, and we could tell that today they were on a mission. We kept traveling north with them and, at the right moment, would jump in the water and swim with them as they swam by.

We had one great swim with them at a spot where the floor of the ocean was a beautiful sandy beach. It reminded me of my times swimming with dolphins in the Bahamas.

After lunch, we headed further out to look for pilot whales and met up with pod of spotted dolphins with beautiful white noses. They surfed and played with our boat for a while, then said goodbye to us and hoped we would return next year! After we returned to the marina, we said our goodbyes to the wonderful boat staff and headed back to the retreat center for our last night together.

At our evening circle, people shared the sweetness they experienced during the week. It was a magical week together.

I would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at Hawaii Island Retreat Center: Jeanie, Jacque, and Kelli. The vision of this eco retreat center is to offer a tranquil nature experience, and it fit the bill for our group. It was a great place to rejuvenate and immerse ourselves in the beauty of nature.

I would also like to thank all the boat crew – Kawika, Erin, Jim and Allison – for their expertise in helping us find the dolphins. Finally, I would like to thank our dolphin pod leaders Jan, Celeste, and Pete. They were our “dolphin whisperers” and the ambassadors who introduced us to these amazing beings.

We feel deep gratitude to all the creatures that inhabit our oceans.

Use light as the messenger and allow your visual system to be a wonderful gateway to your “higher” or spiritual consciousness! My research has shown that applying light therapy to the eyes not only improves vision for many people but also increases the health of the person’s energy field, which ultimately influences consciousness.Everyone has an energy field. It is sometimes referred to as the biofield, defined as the energy that lies within and around the body.

Human energy fields can convey information about our biochemistry and physiology. (see an in-depth article) They can also show energetic imprints related to trauma, toxicity and other adaptive patterns that may be stored as memories in the fluid system and nervous system.

Our biofield can act like a magnet in attracting certain life experiences to us based on the field of information we are “broadcasting.” Our energy field can also guide us to certain patterns of familiar groups like religion, allopathic medicine, family constellations, etc.

When we connect to a certain group field, we take on many characteristics of this group and vibrate at that group’s frequency. Say, for example, someone is on a long-term protocol of pharmaceutical drugs. That person may be limiting his or her growth and expansion based on this particular energy field called pharmaceuticals.

But do you realize you have a choice about which fields you are connected to?

Biofield connections can work in very positive ways. When we enter an energy field created by a gathering of like-minded people who share a healing intention, the power of the group field amplifies greatly. That is supportive for everyone in the group to release self-limiting patterns. Here is an example:

Two years ago, on our yearly dolphin swim-vision therapy-wellness retreat in Hawaii, some participants shared during the closing circle that the glasses and contacts they were wearing had become too strong and that their physical eyesight had improved dramatically during the week. Other people shared how they were able to heal some significant childhood traumas by being part of the group for the week.

People often can access healing in a deeper way in a supportive group than by doing one-on-one therapy. This is why I encourage people to join me in my ongoing group work.

The word “retina” originates from Latin and means “net.” Some anatomy sources refer to this light-sensitive surface as the vertebrate retina. Light initiates the stimulation of nerve impulses, which send a variety of chemical and electrical impulses through the optic nerve (cranial nerve two) to the brain.

People often ask me what they should do to develop or keep healthy retina tissue. There are several things:

Any lens prescribed by an eye doctor is usually much too strong for daily full-time use. Eye doctors use an “optics model” that takes a static measurement. The prescription lens creates a repetitive light pattern onto the retina and, over time, this closed system will cause a weakness in that retinal area. This weakness can lead to retinal holes or a retinal detachment.

I recommend taking your prescriptive lenses off in non-threatening situations to allow your retina to receive as much light as possible without creating a strain. Don’t do this while you look at the sun. Be gentle with your eyes and use good judgment in improving your diet of light. If it does not feel right, don’t do it!

Since the eye is mostly fluid and the retinal tissue is a matrix of photoreceptor cells, eye tissue can become more rigid due to toxicities, traumas, and stress. The retina develops as desensitized tissue and becomes starved of nutrients both in the form of antioxidants and light.

On a toxicity level, since the liver rules the eyes in Chinese Medicine, if you are dealing with any heavy metals or radiation, it will affect retinal tissue. As for trauma, because of the soft tissue of the eyes, it will absorb the energy of most traumas we might incur in our life. Stress is a big source of disease throughout the body. Using the computer for just one hour per day can create stress patterns in the eye tissue.

When people complain about flashing lights, blurred vision, eye strain, double vision, etc, the reason for these symptoms is due to a disconnect from their eye tissue. From an embryonic standpoint, we know that the eyes, brain, spinal cord, and skin are the first to develop in-utero, and these are places where many of our adaptative patterns originate.

The question is why are we so disconnected from our eyes when they give us 70-90% of our information, carry 80% of our body tension, make up 2% of our body weight and use 25% of our food intake.

One reason why our eyes are letting us down has to do with our interaction with electronics. Computers, Smart Phones, and Tablets can be very damaging to the eyes because when you introduce these screens to our eyes, you are going from a 3-D world to a 2-D world, which creates a type of visual confinement. In addition, by focusing for any length of time at one distance sets up a closed system of movement which will solidify all the fluids in the eye tissue. The eyes become a dead zone. The lymph, cerebrospinal fluid, and blood that pass through the eyes lock down due to this closed system of movement when using the electronics.

Craniosacral therapy helps people regain the fluid nature in their eyes. In fact, I have measured the eye prescription of patients, given them a craniosacral session, and re-measured their eye prescription and their initial prescription is completely gone. When the compressions are removed and the fluid returns to its resonate state, our eyes function in a normal, flexible way.

My approach is to introduce in short increments new inputs into the eyes using color, an eye patch, prisms, and homeopathic powered lenses to help people become more aware of the warps created in their perception. I have observed that people release so much tension in the body from this process and many of their self-limiting patterns dissolve away in the eyes, brain, body, and energy fields. Also, whenever we stimulate the eyes, we are stimulating many of the acupuncture meridians especially the liver meridian, which rule the eyes. When I facilitate this process in a group, we are creating a unified field of consciousness that amplifies our healing response. As I hold the space for an adaptogenic response, I have observed major healings not only in their eyes but people’s expansion in their consciousness. I have found creating a more open, holistic space for healing the eyes is very helpful for people.

Since the eyes reflect such a holographic experience, when we release these self-limiting perceptions, the eye tissues receive nourishment and our consciousness opens up. Not only do I observe it in people’s attitude and behavior, but I have also measured the improvement using the Electrophotonic Imaging Camera. Moral of the story: don’t forget about the eyes, the more realized we can become with these tissues, the more we are able to connect to our birthright.

In vision care today, we are led to believe many myths about our eyes. Here are a few them:

The eye is a separate, mechanical, biological process, it only ages and deteriorates

Our genes control our eye health

If you don’t wear your glasses, your eyes will get worse

There is no correlation between eyes and our body

It is the defective eyeball causing vision loss

Here are some truths about our eyes:

A vision problem in the eye reflects an energetic and systemic imbalance in the body

In Chinese medicine, the liver rules the eyes

There is a correlation between our emotions and vision

Sunlight is a very important food for the eyes and for our systemic and spiritual health

One can improve vision at ANY age

Our vision is an evolutionary process of development that begins in-utero. Our retina has developed from brain tissue, so whenever we work with the eyes we are working with an extension of the brain. Neuroscientists have proven, that we can improve the function of the brain at any age (neuroplasticity is the flexibility to develop new neural connections throughout life), and our eyes and brain are intimately related.

Our vision is not static but it is a dynamic system and should be treated as such. The more versatility we have in our vision, more versatility we have in our life.

It is important to question the current allopathic model. It creates a paradigm that we are victims and have no possibility for healing and wellness. Because of the current state of dysfunction in this system, many of us are witnessing a break down in the current approach to health. Join me in the new paradigm that says we have the innate ability for healing, whether it is for eyes or for our entire wellness.

In 2011, I received many calls and e-mails from people who had just been to an eye doctor and received the diagnosis: “you have cataracts, glaucoma, or macular degeneration.” Usually the diagnosis is followed by the treatment plan of let’s do a surgical procedure or even worse, they may report that there is nothing that can be done to save your vision.

Being in the eye care field for over 25 years, I have developed and researched many proven methods to reverse these and other vision conditions. In general, the eyes collect a great deal of free radicals in the tissues. Without proper lymphatic circulation, many eye tissues begin to age faster when the detoxification pathways are not working efficiently. Although, there is no cookbook approach, several research studies point to the fact that using highly absorbable supplements (without the toxic fillers found in most vitamins) can be beneficial in reversing many eye conditions.

Combining vision therapy to improve the functional skill of our eyes-brain-body with some type of natural remedy protocol can be very effective in improving one’s vision.

One of my favorite protocols to help improve eye health is the application of pure medicinal essences around the eyes. The specific essences I have found helpful are Frankincense, Sweet Fennel, Carrot Seed, and Saffron. I recommend applying 1 drop of each essence in a layering fashion 2-3 inches around the eyes, 3 times a day for a minimum of a week. In studies I have done using the Electrophotonic Imaging Camera, I have measured remarkable changes in many deteriorating eye diseases as well as improvement in the energy fields using this protocol. Many times, I have seen energy stagnation in the liver, gallbladder, stomach meridians which are causing tissue changes in the eyes. Using a specific protocol tailor-made for each individual can help a great deal.

Another protocol for specifically reversing cataracts is using two different sets of natural eye drops to dissolve early cataract formation. The first eye drop is called Can-C. It has N-Acetyl Carnosine which is a free-radical scavenger and very active against lipid peroxidation in the different parts of the lens of the eye. The second eye drop is called Cineraria. This eye drop is homeopathic and is a major lymph support for the eyes. The lens of the eye has no direct blood vessels bathing it, so the strategy is to help detox the free radicals and improve the lens circulation in the eye tissue using the Cineraria. When used together, the Can-C and Cinneria eye drops show a 90 percent success rate if used over a 3 month period. I have seen them work wonders with people.

Another important component for the tissue of the eyes is Vitamin C and bioflavonoids. The lens of the eye needs one of the highest amounts of Vitamin C in the body. I recommend 1000mg per day for cataract prevention. Bottom-line, you don’t have to live out the doctor’s diagnosis.

The November, 2011 Hawaii Dolphin Wellness & Vision Retreat was an “extraordinary” experience for all!

Each morning, we started the day at 6 AM as one of the participants, Elaine Doll, an Ayurvedic practitioner and Yoga teacher led us in a wonderful class. I believe that our Yoga practice was very helpful in getting us ready for the day’s activities. At 7:10 AM each morning, we stood in line to get our energy fields and chakras measured with the Electrophotonic Imaging Camera (EPC), a Russian, digital-Kirlian technique that would help me chart our daily energy patterns before and after each dolphin swim.

After breakfast each day, we headed to the marina where we had an opening circle before we got on the boat. What a wonderful week with the dolphins! Captain Jim and Allison and dolphin pod leaders helped us release our fears so we were able to connect to these amazing beings. Each day before each swim, I offered the group a Medicinal Essence to open our hearts to the dolphins. We used Pine Ocean Maritime, Violet, and Sandalwood, and Carnation to assist us. On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of meeting the Pelagic Rays, who moved so elegantly as we swam with them in a deeper part of the ocean. By Thursday, our group had reached a level of coherence as the dolphins continued to swim with us throughout the entire day. At this point, they were swirling, spinning, and twirling beneath us in the deep ocean and then they would slowly come to the surface and give us eye contact as they took a breath and continued swimming with us. By Friday, they were completely surrounding the boat during our entire swim when we finally had to say goodbye as we headed back to the marina.
Friday night was special because people shared how much they loved the week, all the wonderful things they learned, and what they would take home to their friends and family. Friday night is always my favorite part of the week’s festivities.

He shared with us many insights into the workings of natural medicines and being a messenger for the Plants and Trees. I learned some deep truths from him.

* Have a secret ritual for inviting Spirit into your life
* As you take people in, they are also taking you in
* Authenticity is trusting yourself
* Love creates beauty
* Change your colors and don’t be monochromatic
* Our heartbeat is a metronome and with every beat we can make a change
* Signs are everywhere…observe them, believe them, and let them guide you.
* We need to vary what we do; what works in one situation may not be what is needed in another. Pause. Wait. Commune with Spirit and let Spirit work through you. Let Spirit lead.

We are living in interesting times. As we navigate these changes both individually and collectively, Uqualla’s teachings can be very helpful.
